Vacation With the Tweetsie Railroad

Tweetsie Railroad is an old West theme and heritage railroad and Wild West entertainment park located between Blowing Rock and Boone, North Carolina, United States, about 45 minutes from Charlotte. The centerpiece of this popular attraction is a three-mile long trip on a restored steam locomotive pulled by a vintage narrow gauge steam engine. The trains feature original equipment and the authentic woodwork and glass windows. There are many special shows, featuring live entertainment by the kids, featuring animal tricks and stunts, and a great variety of on-going guest attractions.

Tweetsie Railroad

The Tweetsie Railroad Steam Train departs at the historic Tweetsville Junction and takes passengers through five stations on its trip through North Carolina. At the western end of the train, the guest can visit the historic Tweetsville Power Plant, which is preserved as a working facility. Also in the station is the world’s only outdoor steam railway. This train ride covers some of the famous hills and mountains of north Carolina with a backdrop of the Smoky Mountains. At the end of this spectacular journey, the train pulls out of the station and takes passengers back to the tracks for another exciting steam powered excursion through North Carolina.

During the winter months, Ghost Train Weekend is offered as a special attraction and is followed by the return of Tweetsie Railroad on the weekend of the month of October.

The attraction consists of eleven sleeping cars that are pulled by oxen and are featured in a true mining experience. There is also a ten-foot high slide.
