The Fort Worth Stockyards is an old industrial district which is located right in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, near the downtown area. A 98-acre section encompassing much of this district has been designated as a Historic Landmark for all time. This industrial area was considered one of the largest steel manufacturing centers west of the Mississippi River.

Today, this once thriving industrial district still stands and is recognized as a place where steel was king. A good number of the largest employers in the State of Texas are located here including Conoco, AT&T, Comfort Stores and others. It is also home to the first major cotton production plant in Texas. All these are reasons why this historical area is a must visit and explore when you come to Fort Worth.

If you want to know what a wonderful city Fort Worth is, just go downtown and look around. The main streets are lined with shops, restaurants and other forms of activity. These are only some of the attractions that can be found here in fort worth. Take a walk around any of these famous districts of Fort Worth and you will surely be amazed at some of the things that can be found.

One of the most popular among the attractions in Fort Worth is the Fort Worth Stockyards, which is one of the largest cattle industry in the state of Texas. There are many different sections within this huge complex. The main section includes lots of parking lots, which are free for public use. You can get to the stockyards by using the shuttle system or hopping on the top of a mounted crane. This is one of the best ways to get close to all the action inside the huge warehouse.

Just down the road from the Stockyards is another attraction that attracts hundreds of tourists and is also located right in Fort Worth. The San Felipe Street Cruise is a great experience to do along with a free guided walking tour of fort worth. Each day there are two hours of guided tours of the grounds, the Museum, Old Town Square, the Exchange Avenue Marketplace, and the Historic Warehouse District. During the second and third Sundays of each month at the popular “Cattle Drive” comes alive with bovine rides, guided bicycle tours, and free live music performed by cowboy poets.

Two very popular places for night life in Fort Worth are the House of Blues and the Lanes. The House of Blues has live music most nights; however, the club does cater to a more mature crowd. Other music includes country, rock, blues, and jazz music. The Lanes is a popular place for Texas Cowboy gatherings where people can enjoy a few drinks and mingle with other guests before heading out for the night. It is not uncommon to see several cowboys at one bar at the Lanes.

Another popular nightlife fixture of Fort Worth is the many Tex-Mex restaurants dotting the city. There are several locations including one in the Courtyard by Marriott that features a bar with seating from which you can view the night sky above Fort Worth. Another popular Tex-Mex restaurant is Azul, which serves authentic Mexican food and beer. It is also possible to grab some nachos and burgers on your way to dinner. For a nice change of pace, you might try one of the many Mexican tapas bars in downtown Fort Worth.

One final visit to Fort W. is the Historic West End Depot, which serves as the final stop for cattle drives traveling west. Here you will find hand made Christmas cards, bead store items, and homemade clothing. The depot has been open for nearly 100 years and continues to showcase the town’s history. Before you leave Fort Worth makes sure to stop by the western stockyards for a visit with the cattle herders that bring their cattle through the gates on horseback!
