Cuyahoga Valley National Park is located in southern Ohio, between the Ohio towns of Cleveland and Akron. The Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail traverse the length of the park’s north rim. On the south side of the park, the Canal Discovery Center narrates the story of the historic waterway. At the northwest corner of the park, visitors can experience a breathtaking overlook of the valley.

Those who have hiking experience will enjoy the trails along the valley rim.
Day trips to Indian Cave will take about two hours. The trails start off with a challenging climb up to a rocky, sheer cliff. Next, a wooden boardwalk leads visitors down to a rocky area where one can enjoy a panoramic view of the park and the surrounding mountains. In addition, there are restrooms, drinking fountains, and picnic areas. The trail makes a loop return back to the crest of the ravine.
Indian Cave National Park has beautiful trails. Some of the trails have steps and overlooks so that one can see the valley floor. Some of the trails have inclines which giveiker’s the feel of hiking uphill. On the southern part of the park, at the closure of Rooster Rock, one can enjoy a hot picnic. If it’s night time, some of the cabins in the area offer campsites. Most of the cabins are first come, first served.
Other attractions include the Rooster Rock/North Cascades National Trail, Indian Cave Cabin & Cave, Black Cave Cabin, and the Horseshoe Bend Hike. All these adventures make the park worth visiting. You’ll enjoy all the natural wonders of the area and at the same time be able to take in some amazing nature panoramas.
When you visit Cuyahokia, you’ll also get to experience the history of this once thriving Native American community. When you’re at the park, you’ll also see artifacts that depict the lifestyle of these early settlers. If you want to learn more about them, the National Museum of the Cherokee Indians is open to the public, as well as historical events and daily aboriginal programs.
There are lots of activities you can choose from to fill your day. The trails provide entertainment, exercise, and give you the chance to see the sights while still within walking distance. You can camp at any of the campgrounds in the area. You’ll be given information about the local attractions and can plan a hike or bike trip with your family. You’ll need to register for a free entry to the park, but it won’t cost you any money to stay at one of the hotels in Cuyahokia.
In the morning, you’ll find that the woods are very awake and starting to make noise. In the evening, you’ll be able to find quiet places to walk. For those who love the water, you’ll find a boat launch in Cuyahokia Bay, where you can kayak or snorkel for hours. During the daytime, you’ll also find boat tours and nature walks. On cool fall days, you can go hiking or take a nature hike around the entire park.
Another highlight of the trip is enjoying the natural landscape around Cuyahokia. You’ll see creeks running through it, small lakes, an old roadbed, and fields of wildflowers. You’ll also pass through different types of landscapes, such as brush, desert, forest, and mountainous terrains. If you love the sound of water trickling over rocks, you’ll see a small stream in the valley where you can view the river and forest below.
